Lunch around our is always a struggle. I never know what food is actually a lunch food. We use to just go out for lunch most of the time and if we did stay home we ate mostly mac and cheese. Well after awhile one gets tired of mac and cheese but never the 3 year old. My sister gave me the idea for muffin tin lunches. This way I can give Lillian a little bit of this and little bit of that. She is more of a snacker in the first place. Ever since the first time I gave her a muffin tin lunch she has called them a special snack. She asks for them often! I like them because I can give a little bit of this and little bit of that thus finishing up the leftovers or solving the dilemma of not really having anything for lunch!
I discovered that the little cups from Ikea fit perfectly in a cup. Which is great since Lillian likes to carry her own plate! It kind of then reminds me of a lunch tray but way cooler! I went to the Dollar store and bough a six cup muffin holder specifically for these special snacks. You may already of them in your cabinets.
Some other ideas of what to put in the special snack lunch are tuna, mac and cheese, applesauce(the containers fit), any fruit or veggie, chips and salsa, a sweet treat, black beans, lunch meat, cheese, popcorn, or dry cereal.I hope you enjoy these as much as my little one does!

sounds great for Lillian but don't think "Papaw" would enjoy it much. lol I forgot about this site will have to keep this in mind. hugs Nana
We don't use a tin, but when we have this type of lunch the boys call it "snack lunch" and it's their favorite!
My girls eat like this every single day without fail---but without the coolness of the muffin tin. They'd love that! I always ask them what they want for lunch and I make suggestions: grilled cheese, soup, sandwiches . . . Lauren always says, "My regular lunch." That means crackers, pepperoni, mini cubed ham, cheese slices and some strawberries.
Every. Single. Day. For years!!!!
